Jobber price book: native list or separate catalog?

Jobber already has products and services. Compare its native workflow with a reviewable master catalog before adding another tool.

Jobber's products and services list may be all you need. If supplier costs change often or you maintain separate selling-price books, compare the repeated work: edit in Jobber or review changes in Pricebookr and deliberately push approved entries back.

  • Native edits and CSV. Jobber documents product and service edits plus a CSV export/edit/import workflow. Keep that workflow when it handles your catalog cleanly.
  • QuickBooks connection version matters. Legacy and newer Jobber–QuickBooks integrations have different item-ownership rules. Check your version and Jobber's new-integration rules before choosing where to edit.
  • Separate pricebooks. Pricebookr keeps retail and contractor selling prices on one catalog item, with rules and intentional fixed-price exceptions. Synced books become separate mapped Jobber entries, not invisible tiers inside one product.
  • Review before output. A cost change is not approval to alter every selling price. Preview the affected items, confirm the catalog change, and confirm the Jobber push separately.

If occasional native edits are enough, stay in Jobber. A separate master catalog earns its place when repeated repricing, separate books, and a reviewable change history solve a real operating problem.

Keep your Jobber plan. Build your margins in Pricebookr.

If Core or Connect already handles your day-to-day work, you can calculate selling prices from material and labor costs in Pricebookr without upgrading Jobber just for catalog pricing. Set markup or margin rules, review the affected items, then send the selling prices to Jobber.

Jobber includes quote markups and estimated margins in Grow; Plus includes Grow's features. When that feature is unavailable, Pricebookr syncs selling prices and item details while retaining internal costs and markups in Pricebookr. Accounts with the feature continue receiving costs and markups too.

This manages catalog pricing; it does not unlock Jobber's native quote-margin display or replace actual job costing. Compare the combined subscriptions against the Jobber features your shop needs. See the cost-sync and plan requirements.

How the integration works

Pricebookr is a listed app on the Jobber App Marketplace — it went through Jobber's app review, including their security review of how the connection handles credentials.

Connect Jobber, import your existing products and services, and review costs, selling prices and book assignments. Set up markup schedules only where a rule should control the price; preserve intentional manual prices. Linked items use saved mappings, while an unlinked import can fall back to a name match. Review possible duplicates instead of assuming every catalog will map perfectly.

When you are ready, preview the changed entries and confirm the Jobber push. Existing jobs and quotes are separate records; do not assume a catalog update rewrites them. If costs are missing, use the missing-cost audit before repricing.

FAQ

How do I bulk-update a Jobber price list?

Jobber documents a products-and-services CSV export, edit, and import workflow. Check your QuickBooks connection first: its legacy and newer integrations have different rules about where item edits belong. Pricebookr lets you review catalog changes in bulk and then explicitly confirm a Jobber push.

Does Jobber support separate retail and contractor prices?

Jobber stores a selling price on each product or service. Pricebookr can keep separate pricebooks for one catalog item. When you sync more than one book, each enabled book maps to a distinguishable Jobber product entry; the prices are not hidden customer-specific tiers inside one Jobber item.

Does Pricebookr automatically push every edit to Jobber?

No. Import and review the catalog, confirm the intended price changes, then review and confirm the Jobber push separately. Existing Jobber jobs and quotes should be checked independently.
