Sign in with Google or Apple

You can sign in to Pricebookr three ways: email and password, Continue with Google, or Continue with Apple. All three reach the same account — as long as Pricebookr knows they belong to the same person, which is what Settings → Account → Connected accounts is for.

Accounts get created four ways: those three, plus accepting an invitation to someone else's company. Only the first three start a company and a trial of your own.

Signing in for the first time

Using Google or Apple on the login page when you have no Pricebookr account creates one: a new company, an empty catalog, a Retail pricebook, and a 14-day trial. You are not asked for a password, and you will not have one.

If that email already belongs to a Pricebookr account, sign in to the existing account first and connect the provider in Settings. Pricebookr never joins accounts just because their email addresses match. Use Forgot password? if you cannot sign in. A provider using a different email can still create a separate, empty account.

If you were invited to a company

Accepting an invitation is the one way of getting a Pricebookr account that does not create a company of your own. You open the link, choose a password, and land in the company that invited you — no separate catalog and no trial to start, because they already pay for the one you're joining.

So don't sign up first. Creating an account at Start your free trial and then opening the invitation is the same "second, empty account" trap described above, arrived at from a different direction: you end up with an empty company of your own alongside the real one. If you've already done it, open the invitation link and confirm with the password you just set — that joins the company to the account you already made. See Invite your team.

If you already had a Pricebookr account, accepting adds the new company to it rather than replacing anything. Your own catalog and pricebooks are untouched.

Working in more than one company

One login can belong to several companies — your own shop and one you subcontract for, say. When it does, a company menu appears in the top bar next to your email. Pick a company and Pricebookr reloads into it.

You are only ever in one company at a time. Everything you see — catalog, markups, pricebooks, history, billing — belongs to the one named in that menu, and your role can be different in each: an admin at your own shop, a field tech at theirs. Pricebookr applies whichever role belongs to the company you're currently in, so a company where you're a field tech won't show you their costs just because you're an admin somewhere else.

Signing in returns you to whichever company you were last working in. If you've been removed from that one since, you land in the company you've belonged to longest instead. Someone with a single company sees no menu and nothing changes for them.

Connect Google or Apple to an account you already have

  1. Sign in the way you normally do.
  2. Open the Settings tab and find Connected accounts.
  3. Click Connect next to Google or Apple, then complete the provider's prompt.
The Connected accounts card in Settings, listing Google and Apple with a Connected status and a Disconnect button for each.

The provider now shows as Connected, and signing in with it from then on opens this account. Connecting never changes your email address, so your invoices and trial reminders keep going where they already go.

If an older Google sign-in is not connected yet, use Forgot password? to verify your inbox and set a password, then connect Google in Settings. On the first inbox verification of an older account, Pricebookr removes any other unverified sign-in methods and ends existing sessions. Reconnect the methods you want to keep from Settings.

Apple's "Hide My Email"

Apple offers to hide your real address and give Pricebookr a forwarding address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. Pricebookr accepts it, with two consequences worth knowing:

  • It is the address we send to. Trial reminders, receipts, and password-reset links all go to the relay, which forwards to your real inbox. If you later turn off forwarding for Pricebookr in your Apple Account settings, those emails stop arriving and you will not be told.
  • It cannot be matched to your other accounts. Apple deliberately withholds your real address, so a hidden Apple sign-in has nothing in common with your Google or password account. This is exactly the case that produces a second account — connect Apple from Settings first and it can't happen.

You can move off a relay address later — see Changing your email address below.

Changing your email address

Your email is how you sign in, where invoices and trial reminders go, and where password resets are sent, so changing it takes a confirmation step.

  1. Open Settings and click Change next to your email under Profile.
  2. Enter the new address. Confirm it's you with your password, or by signing in with Google or Apple again if your account has no password.
  3. Open the link we email to the new address. It expires in 1 hour and works once.
  4. Sign in again with the new address.

Nothing changes until you open that link, so a request sent to the wrong address is harmless — it simply expires. We also email your old address to say a change was requested, so you find out if someone else started one.

After the change: every device signs out, any unused password-reset links stop working, and your Stripe billing email is updated. Your catalog, team, history, and audit trail are untouched — past audit entries keep showing the address you had at the time, which is the honest record.

Two addresses are refused: one that already belongs to another Pricebookr account, and an Apple private-relay address, since moving onto one re-creates the deliverability problem this is meant to solve.

If you sign in with Google or Apple, make sure it is connected under Connected accounts before changing your email. A connected provider follows your account even after its contact email changes; matching email addresses alone does not connect a provider.

Changing your password signs out every device

Changing your password in Settings, or completing a Forgot password? reset, ends every session on every device — your phone, a second computer, a browser you used once at a supply house. Anyone signed in as you has to sign in again with the new password.

That is the point of it. If you are changing your password because you think somebody else has it, a change that left their session running would not have done anything.

Ordinary sign-ins are not affected: Pricebookr renews your session quietly in the background, so you stay signed in from day to day without being asked. Signing out on one device ends that device's session and leaves your others alone.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect next to a provider in Connected accounts. It stops being a way to sign in; nothing else about your account, catalog, or team changes.

Pricebookr refuses to remove your last way in. If Google or Apple is the only way you can sign in, Disconnect is disabled and offers to email you a link to set a password. Set one, then disconnect.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhy, and what to do
You sign in and the catalog is emptyThree causes, in the order worth checking. If there's a company menu in the top bar, you're simply in the wrong company — switch it. Otherwise you are in a second account created by signing in a different way than you signed up (most often Apple with Hide My Email) — sign out, sign back in the original way, then connect the provider from Settings → Account → Connected accounts. Or you were invited to a company and signed up instead of opening the invitation — open the invitation link and confirm with the password you just set.
You sign in to the wrong companyPricebookr returns you to whichever company you were last in. Switch with the company menu in the top bar; it remembers the change for next time.
You're an admin at your own company but can't change anything hereRoles are per company. You have a different role in the company you're currently in — check the company menu in the top bar. Ask an admin there to change your role if it's wrong.
